Overall:
..for looks, ride, handling, build quality, look no further. This car feels SO safe, and it is. The interior?...Audi: eat your hearts out (we have an A5 '09)...Mazda can do interiors even better! Yes, a bit short on interior storage space but boy does that interior keeps you smiling.Flawless finish, dashboard like a 747 yet so easy to use. The rear seats are so deep. Outside, the handsome, sleek, "still motion" beats Ford's efforts hands down ; Qashqai drivers go green, Q5 owners wonder where their extra 12grand has gone! Tiguan drivers are already asleep, bored with those samey VW looks we grew tired of in the 90's. But why are Mazda so quiet about this wonderful SUV ? - not a squeak in any of the UK motor mags since Oct 2009. Autoexpress still has the Honda HPV (oh, whatever) as its pet fave. They're everywhere, as if the Honda Queen in Swindon laid a million eggs and they all hatched at once.... But nothing from Mazda...not a whisper. AdBlue, Euro V, constant 2WD unless demands require 4WD, torquey diesel, almost no vibration at all at tickover. Yes, go and look at the others, agonise for hours over the options lists, model combinations, what you can and cant have with each one...and then come and DRIVE the CX-7 and realise that heaven does exist....but do ask for rear parking sensors to be fitted.
Plus Points:
Handsome looks (shop window appeal when driving along); high level of equipment is standard; safety inc curtain airbags and tyre press.monitoring; handling; very quiet engine; Bose sound system; I haven't got all day.....
Minus Points:
Desperately needs rear parking sensors- the (pointless) camera is no use other than for seeing what the rear bumper is above; no anti-hijack auto locking; NO TMC traffic monitoring in UK (it works in France!); no facility to add POI's to sat nav eg.safety cameras; no stop-start
